Facts and History of Chevy Nova
A 1977 Chevy Nova is a 4th generation Nova. Chevy came out with the Nova (Chevy II) in 1962 as a result
of the compact car war between the major auto manufacturers.
1975 to 1979 the Chevy Nova fastbacks and hardtops and sedans were completely restyled, but the major
emphasis was on the sportier fastbacks and 2-dr hardtops. The sedan now had fixed sidewindows, a round speedometer,
and a straight dashboard. This generation also marked the end of the rear-wheel drive cars.
Also manufactured from 1977 to 1978, was the Nova Rally with a 305 V-8 engine. To confuse
matters, Chevrolet also manufactured a Rally Nova during those years but it was not equipped with the muscle car traits and
was often referred to as the Rally II which meant "not a Rally."
